Most of us love eating snacks.  I always say that the more delicious a snack is, the more likely it is unhealthy.  Potato chips, chocolate bars, ice creams, pop corn… these are all my favorite snacks, and they are all not good for my health.  Americans are among the most unhealthy people on earth.  No because of starvation, not because of polluted food, but due to unbalanced diet.

Being a mega snack fan, I with no exception has health problems including blood pressure.  That is why, a few years ago I started to eat healthy snacks so that I could satisfy my desire to eat while treating my body and health well.  The result is a collection of healthy snack recipes I share with you here.

Healthy Snack Recipes – The Common Choices

Healthy snack recipes usually employs lots of fruits and vegetables.  For example, many kinds of salad are good ideas of snacks.  My favorite salad is the simplest caesar salad, a classic salad which includes romaine lettuce, croutons and breadcrumbs mixed in parmesan cheese and olive oil.  Some people prefer adding a little bit of Worcestershire sauce but it is just not my cup of tea.

Toast is another favorite of mine.  While a crispy toast is always a basic requirement, do not forget to get some healthy spread.  Peanut butter tastes good but the sugar and energy content is high, so you should not have too much at a time.  Similarly, honey is sweet but not good to health if you consume too much.  Why?  Because sugar could be converted into energy.  If you have too much sugar, the excessive amount would store in your body as fat.  Whatever you put on the toast, make sure it has a low sugar content, otherwise you have to be very careful about the quality you eat.

If I have to prepare snacks for my children, my first choice is always sandwiches.  Not only because preparing sandwiches is easy, but also since I can control what to put into the sandwiches. I usually put a piece of cheeve, some ham, green vegetables and a tiny bit of salad dressing.  I have have tomatoes I will add a few slices.  This ensures that my kids have sufficient amount of the healthy vitamin, dairy products and dietary fiber (click to learn more if you do not know what it is), all of them are food to health.

Now, let’s talk about drinks.  The best choice is always fruit juice and the best of the best is freshly made ones.  You can buy a juice squeezer from any supermarket, and use it to produce orange juice.  This is certainly the perfect way to get fresh juice  But if you don’t bother to do it yourself, you can buy juice contained in boxes.  Juice is a good companion of healthy snacks but remember to check if sugar, flavoring and preservative are added or not because these are not good to health.  You can easily tell by reading the nutritional facts printed on the boxes.

Now your collection of healthy snack recipes have light food and juice, let’s get some candies.  This is usually the favorite part of a holiday afternoon when my whole family work together on healthy snacks.  I usually make gummies by using all-natural juices and gelatine.  You should not put too much sugar in it since the fruit juices should have natural sugar already.  Use your imagination to create gummies of different shapes and colors.  Your children will definitely love them.
